A typical Session
To start off with a physics lesson will begin with a check up on what your child has already been taught or what they already know, then we start working with them through real NCEA exam papers and practice problems and our own private lab of practice questions for your child to get a deep understanding of exam style questions.
We teach them step by step solutions, from giving basic plugging in numbers and which formulas to use down to building up merit and excellence answers with the right keywords and correct structure in place. By the end of the session they will have learned with real exam style questions and problems and learned how to find the important details in a question that they can use to apply in their next test.
Calculus
We turn long problems into clear steps. Students learn why methods work, not only how to use them.

Skills your child will build
Calculus is confusing and a struggle for students who aren’t taught right. We teach the best methods so it becomes a breaze, we show your child how to break down the problem into steps that are easy to follow and easy to tell which steps to do, whether it’s differentiation, integration or applying calculus they’ll know how to set up the right equations and explain what their reasoning is clearly. We show your child how to write the right type of answer that examiners give the most marks to.
A typical Session
A regular calculus lesson begins by seeing the areas that your child finds the most challenging and from there we can show them similar past exam questions and how to go from basics to excellence level answers.
We show which parts to look to to spot clues in the questions and how to select the right method to write clear solutions and follow the right steps that stand in exams. By the end of the session your child will have practised both the “how” and the “why” of calculus for their exams and tests.
Chemistry
We connect theory to real examples and focus on the way marks are awarded in written responses.

A typical Session
The chemistry lessons begin with a check up on where your child’s current level is and moves on to doing practice problems with real NCEA exam style questions that help prepare your child for the actual exam day. We go through common problem spots like calculations, definition questions and how to apply theory questions from the start.
Students learn how to spot the type of question and what the question is asking them to do. From plug in with correct formulas to write the theory in the right structure to questions that require both we build up the knowledge and confidence that sets your child up for success for exams
